Study Techniques That Actually Slap
Reading and re-reading is the least effective way to study. Science
said it, not me. Here are techniques that make your brain actually
keep stuff.
5.1 Review Like a Boss
Don't wait until exam night. Review within 24 hours for 10 minutes– it boosts retention by 70%. Summarize in your own words, out
loud, like you're making a TikTok tutorial.
5.2 Flashcards + Spaced Repetition = Memory
Glue
Create Q on front, A on back – in YOUR words, not textbook. Then
use spaced repetition: review today, in 2 days, in 7 days, in 14
days. Apps like Anki or Quizlet do it auto. This is how med students
memorize 10k terms.
5.3 Mnemonics – Make It Weird, Make It Stick
Weird = memorable. Acronyms: ROY G BIV. Acrostics: 'My Very
Educated Mother...' for planets. Visualization: picture a giant CAT
sitting on your textbook for 'Catalysis'. The cringier, the better.
5.4 Self-Testing – The Real Glow-Up
Close the book and try to write everything you remember. That's
active recall. It's uncomfortable, but it's where learning happens.
Do practice quizzes BEFORE you feel ready – it shows you gaps.
Mock Exams: Time yourself, no notes, same conditions as real
test. Grade honestly. Adjust.
5.5 Teach It to Learn It
Ifyou can teach it to a 10-year-old, you know it. Grab a friend, your
little cousin, or record a voice note explaining. When you stumble,
that's what you need to restudy.
ESTEFANIA'S COOL TIP: Study group hack: Each person
teaches one topic. You learn 1 deeply + get 3 taught to you. 4x
efficiency.
